Student Engaged Conferences
Leading the Way to Success!
This year's student engaged conferences were notably more engaging. At Andre Lucas Elementary School, the third graders in Ms. Phillips's class took this time to celebrate their hard work and milestones alongside their families. The students, serving as guest speakers, arrived with bright smiles, even as they prepared to discuss their academic progress. For the first time, they were tasked with reviewing Learning Skills, Math, and ELA standards while setting both short- and long-term goals. The students were given the chance to articulate their existing knowledge and identify areas that require their attention moving forward. It became evident within the 30-minute session that student engaged conferences significantly enhance the connection between school and home.Â
Student engaged conferences transcend mere grades and areas for improvement; it is an opportunity to celebrate achievements and foster relationships. With the support of teachers and parents, it is important to consistently evaluate goals and monitor progress which can occur on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis, depending on the specific objectives. By the conclusion of the meeting, it was apparent that this initiative should be a continuous commitment, commencing at Open House and culminating on Memorial Day weekend.
