UPK Wrap Around Program!
Andre’ Lucas Elementary is excited to offer the Universal PreK Wraparound Program, led by Mrs. Amy Cunningham-Buettner, along with a dedicated team of six staff members. This initiative is funded by NAF CYS and was inspired by Fort Campbell's selection as a pilot site for the UPK. The program emphasizes learning through play, providing activities that encourage exploration and understanding, while also focusing on essential social skills like sharing and taking turns.
The Universal PreK Wraparound program offers care for children both before and after school, ensuring a seamless transition for them. Parents can feel assured that their children are safe within the school environment. This initiative relies on a collaborative effort, with open communication between CYS and DODEA being essential for its success. The team is grateful for Dr. Racek’s support in providing a storage area for necessary items, which helps them run the program effectively while adhering to CYS guidelines.
Mrs. Jocelyn Perez, a parent of a child enrolled in the program, emphasizes the significant impact it has on their lives. She expresses gratitude for the welcoming atmosphere created by the staff, highlighting the positive interactions her daughter receives from each teacher. Additionally, she appreciates the program's location within the same school, as it aligns well with her work commitments, especially with her husband being away.
